How to Do Archival Research: A Guide to What's Possible

Based on my background as a Certified Archivist with a Masters in Library and Information Science, it appears that I have all the necessary knowledge and training to have expertise in doing archival research. And I do, but the skills didn’t come from my education or training, it came from how I approach searching for information. After over a decade of helping researchers find what they are looking for in the archives I worked in as well as finding other resources including physical archives and online databases; I have learned that for most people researching archival materials is a completely alien endeavor.
